Best with ice cream and served warm

1/4 cup butter

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup milk

2 cups fresh or frozen berries

How to make the topping : 1/4 cup butter 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/3 cup all-purpose flour Sweetened whipped cream for accompaniment Preheat oven to 375*F (190*C). Grease an 8 x 8-inch baking pan; set aside. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Alternately add the flour mixture with the milk into the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Pour batter in prepared baking pan. Distribute berries evenly over top. For the topping, combine butter, sugar, cinnamon and flour until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle topping evenly over berries. Bake for 40 minutes. Serve warm with a dollop of sweetened whipped cream or as desired.
